Persona VS

“Persona VS” is a constructed card game by SEGA and ATLUS with the board game company Banso. It was made as part of the Persona series’ 25th anniversary. I spent this winter break translating the rules and cards for everyone who can’t read Japanese since SEGA hasn’t said anything about officially localizing the game. This is an unofficial fan-translation, and is in no way associated with SEGA, ATLUS, or Banso.

You can find the rules here, and I’ll make a nicer looking printable version of them sometime in the future.

I’ve made English inserts to help those who can’t read Japanese. The boxes have been sized properly to fit inside “standard size” card sleeves (66x92mm). Just cut out the text and slide them into the sleeve with the card. I’d recommend sleeving the cards up anyways, just so they don’t get damaged while shuffling. I’ve tried to make the cutouts take up as little room as possible to make printing cheaper. If you just want to play with just the cards, you could keep these pages near the play area to check effects. I’ve put the number and names of the cards above their effects.

-Also, you will need to draw the little “VS” symbol on one of each the “Izanagi,” “Orpheus,” and “Arsène” inserts. Your starting Persona is the one with no weakness.

Lastly, I avoided translating anything unrelated to playing the actual game. ATLUS even put an anti-spoiler warning in the rulebook. It says just the epilogues on the backs of the character cards are what they want kept secret, but I’m not going to push my luck. The only other “story” text is a brief prologue in the rulebook and some flavor text on the Support and React cards. Most of it is just whatever battle line is most well known for that character. (ie. Akihiko’s is “I’ve been waiting for this.”)

Here’s a link to the Amazon Japan Page. Banso will do international shipping, but it is a bit costly. It’s still better than the +100 USD scalpers are trying to charge on eBay, though.
